AM/INTL. CH. Wild West Arrow of Lone Pine
Although I am not the breeder of record for Richmond and his siblings, I am their true breeder. I showed Richie’s mother, Petra, to her Championship and when it was time to breed her I chose the stud dog for the litter that produced Richie, then whelped and raised this litter.
During Richie’s show career he was dubbed “Richie Rich” by one of his handlers! He loved the show ring! One judge took his head in her hands, smiled, and said, “You have the cutest little ears”! Richie made everyone smile with his jaunty movement, constantly wagging tail and happy, smiling face. He was never campaigned, but I did show him at the ABA Far West Specialty Supported Entry show, where he won BOB over an entry of 54 and that same day his son finished his Championship!
Richie was used as a Junior Showmanship dog for Adrian Hill and my daughter, Courtney. They really had to work at showing him, because just when you thought he was ready for examination, he’d give a shiver and they’d have to start all over again.
Richie passed away at the ripe old age of 11-1/2 years. Even the night before he passed, he was still a clown, free stacking and sassing us for a piece of steak. He NEVER had a serious moment in his life! Many of his children and grandchildren have this total joy for life!! He was a great couch buddy and loved his cuddling in the evenings, but show him a dirty sock and he was off and running.
Richie put his ‘stamp’ on his kids and grandkids and even some great grandkids. Many of them have his quirky ways and his dancing feet. He has produced 14 AKC Champions to date (with many more to come) and one of those AKC Champions was the #1 dog in Canada for 2 straight years! I am very proud of what his kids and grandkids have achieved! Richie was my “once in a lifetime dog”!
