In the following charts 'n' represents the number of dogs used in the given calculations.
- For the general population (n=562), the average lifespan is 8.4 years.
- Females are living on average, 7.6 months longer than males (n=562)
- ROM recipients (n=266) are averaging 8.7 years. See chart below.
COI
The Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) is a calculation of how related an individual's parents are, or a measure of how inbred they are. It reflects the likelihood of any individual allele being homozygous and relative risk of inheriting recessive genetic conditions. I found these scatter graphs interesting in that they really show no pattern and do not indicate a shorter life span with higher COI numbers. The average COI for the breed is 12.5

Causes of Death
The overall cause of death and death under 7 years of age are both clearly due to cancer.

Cancer as Cause of Death
The breakdown of types of cancer-causing death in the general population and under 7 years of age
The incidence of different cancers through time.

Longevity by decade of birth, a concerning trend
n= 562
ROM Recipients are averaging 8.7 years
n= 266
My next plan is to analyze longevity by generation. The following is an example using the pedigree of one of my dogs. It compares the longevity of offspring, 3 generations of ancestors, and a calculation that takes into account the genetic influence of each ancestor.
