Reggie was a true show dog. His first show was at the 1997 ABA National in St. Louis, MO where he placed Third out of a very large 6-9 month class. That was the beginning of a very successful show career. His career included a Group Win with his owner handler. In 2001 Reggie was #4 in Breed points and #8 in All- Breed points as well as winning the Midwest Bullmastiff Fanciers Regional Specialty and the Southeast Bullmastiff Association Regional Specialty. He also won Stud Dog at the SEBA Regional Specialty that year.
In 2002 Reggie remained in the Top Ten as #8 in Breed points and #12 in All-Breed points while again winning the Midwest Bullmastiff Fanciers Regional Specialty. In 2003 Reggie was a Top Producing Sire and an Award of Merit at the 2003 ABA National Specialty. As a Veteran Reggie won the Best Veteran at the Midwest Bullmastiff Fanciers Regional Specialty and then he went on to win a Group 1 in the Veteran Group. Reggie’s last time in the ring was at the 2005 ABA National
Specialty where Reggie won the Maturity class.
Breeders used Reggie as a stud dog to correct lack of bone and height. He had a near level bite along with a wide under jaw. His head structure was very distinctive and he passed on correct ear carriages and eye placement. His correct front with a nice wide chest is consistantly seen among his get. One fault that Reggie had was a short tail. He did not pass this on to his get. We were careful to not breed to bitches at the top of the standard because he consistantly produced substantional offspring. Reggie had incredible reach and drive, especially in the Group Ring! His temperament was his claim to fame. He loved everyone and enjoyed laying ring side waiting for his turn to go into the ring. Reggie has become known for passing on his width of muzzle, excellent bone and of course, his sound temperament. For ten years we had the honor of sharing our home with Reggie. He was that “Once in a Lifetime” dog.
