“Thor” was the first champion we bred here at Ironwood. He was a very square, well built example of the breed, being large boned with a square head and level bite. Many exhibitors today appear to believe a Bullmastiff cannot have a level bite without having a long narrow muzzle - they never saw Thor nor some of our other dogs. I think Thor would have added much to the breed if he had lived longer. He was owner handled to a Group 1 back when Bullmastiffs were seldom noticed in the group competition. He was not campaigned as a special as we were attempting to raise our three children as well as enjoying competing at dog shows in the Midwest primarily. Thor was one of a kind and was truly a “working dog” passing on his excellent movement to his get.
