Int.- GCh. Tarheel’s She Is Ours was Karen’s pick from the time she first saw her. Thus the discussion of Yes “she is ours” and her call name “Izzy”. At eight weeks of age fellow bullmastiff enthusiasts dubbed her “born to show” even though she lived in the shadow of her Best In Show littermate. She produced two litters – the first had 8 puppies of which only one lived and the second had 9 puppies of which 8 lived.
Because “Izzy” was deemed a “doggy” bitch she did not do well in the Breed ring. Judges often mistook her for a male. She had a very dark mask and eyes and as she matured these only got darker as did her red color. In 2007, “Izzy” won an Award of Merit at the ABA National Specialty. As we mentioned earlier she lived in her littermates’ shadow and won many Best of Opposites to him in Breed competitions and at Regional Specialties and Regional Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes competitions.
“Izzy” will always be our “Black-eyed beauty”.
