“Gem” was a medium fawn bitch of the most excellent temperament I have ever seen.  Her height was 25-1/2 inches but seemed less due to her powerful heavy build.  She was about 135 pounds to 140 pounds.  Gem was shown a couple of times as a puppy but it was quite evident she did not like the noise and confusion.  As we were busy showing a male at the time and she preferred to stay at home, she became our house dog.  She was an outstanding brood bitch that loved the role of taking care of her pups.  The pups she whelped, that did not become champions I do not believe were ever shown.  Most of her offspring were well proportioned, of unusually stable temperament, with very few faults.  Most had good heads with dark masks and ears.  Gem was a real top producer of excellent pups.  Gem died in June 1973 of breast cancer.  She was born the 21st of November 1967
