The opening of the Kennedy Center was celebrated by the opera “Beatrix Cenci”, Bullmastiff enthusiasts will remember it as the debut of Ch. Pocantico Worrysum Favo D’Mel and Ch. Scyldocga Yankee Rebel. “Favo” and “Rebie” were in the opera as guard dogs for Count Cenci. The actor was Bill Graham (as Count Cenci’s servant) who handled the dogs and as quoted from the Bullmastiff Bulletin Feb. 1972.. “They and Count Cenci made quite an impression as they first lunged onstage reeking of violence and savagery.” “Bill” approached, armed with “Special cuts and dog yummies”. The dogs chosen, turned out to be completely gentle and lovable, but determined! Determined to drag Bill off the stage before he could finish his last line.
