Jelly Roll
By Donna Pendleton
“Jelly Roll” is a 24 ¾” substantial, red fawn with a beautiful head, strong wide under jaw and a slightly undershot jaw. J Roll has dark, almond shaped eyes and very nice pigment. Her movement is phenomenal as she looks like she is floating on air, even as she approaches eight years of age. She has beautiful, tight, cat feet and a well-developed second thigh. Her ideal show weight was 118lbs.
J Roll was the Reserve Winners bitch at the 2006 ABA National Specialty under judge Mary Barbara Walsh. In November of 2006, she finished her championship at the Delaware Valley Bullmastiff Club by going WB & BOW. In 2011, J Roll won the Brood Bitch class at the ABA National Specialty. She is a group placing bitch that was always owner handled.
In the whelping box, J Roll has produced two Top 10 Bullmastiffs, both of which have received an invite to the ABA Top 20 event in 2012. In addition, she has produced a BIS; 3 Regional Specialty Sweepstake winners; WD, WB and BOW at Regional Specialties; 2011 Best Dog in Futurity and WD, BOW and Best Bred By Exhibitor at the 2012 National Specialty.
Jelly Roll is a happy, confident girl. She is always the dog on duty at the farm and has one of the most impressive barks I have ever heard. Her temperament is such that she is able to co-mingle with all the farm animals. The Roll loves children and anyone that comes to visit, however, she is the first one to guard if need be, standing her ground waiting and watching the “intruder.”
J Roll is and always will be a very special girl to me. She spends her day watching me. My daughter swears we are twins as we are always hungry, happy and silly. She still goes out for a daily hike of one to four miles over Eastern Ohio hills. She would never miss a walk to the chicken coup for a chance at an egg. J Roll is the only dog that we have who will watch for my van to come down the lane. She runs down the drive way, giant
stuffed toy in her mouth, to greet me. J Roll will look up into the driver’s side window to make sure I see her, smile and run along side my van the rest of the way. I refer to her as “the perfect one” at home and my family knows whom I am referring to. I am so blessed to have her. Jelly Roll Pendleton is truly my heart dog.
