Sydney
By Carol Hemeyer
On May 31, 2002, our Sydney was born. A mere nine weeks later, she crossed our threshold and began her reign as Queen Sydney. She is a fawn bitch with a dark black mask and ears and beautiful pigmentation. Sydney is 24 inches at the shoulders and her show weight was one hundred and seven pounds. She is perfect not only in her physical appearance, but in her demeanor as well. She is confident yet sweet and gentle. She is kind to all- children, dogs and cats, large and small. She is an alpha that communicates her dominance not with outward aggression, but with her confident body language. Following in her father “Angus” MBIS Ch. Tondra’s Here’s The Beef‘s footsteps, Sydney loves being in the show ring. Her love for the limelight, though, isn’t the only attribute she inherited from her father. She also was blessed with his great movement, expressive and dark chocolate eyes, and his majestic broad and strong head. Sydney did her duty, in turn, and passed those qualities onto seven offspring of her own, three of them, champions: Ch. Newcastle’s It’s Miller Time CD, CGC “Miller” is an accomplished show dog that is athletic and has won multiple titles; Ch. Newcastle’s Instant Karma CGC, TDI “Hans” is also a handler’s dream in the ring and received a prestigious AOM at the 2010 Westminster Dog Show; and Ch. Newcastle Sweet Charlotte “Char” who has performed admirably in the show ring, but even more passionately to people. Not to be
outdone, Sydney’s other, non-show, offspring, have been champions to the families they each became a part of. But alas, even queens have blemishes, and our Sydney has become lazy. In her life, she has indulged in her favorite past-times a little too mucheating and sleeping on her couch. This makes it difficult to keep her at a normal weight which causes her top line to dip. And her chest, just a little bit too much white.
Yet, even with these blemishes, and the fact that we weren’t able to breed her a second time, she is our perfect queen, champion, companion, and friend, not because of her accomplishments, but because of the love she has given us.
