Ch. Leatherneck Rosalyn’s Aunt Mame was from my Bella’s ( CH.Leatherneck Isabelle of the Ball) only litter. She was known for a short time as “Big-Un”, until I came up with her name. She was quite a bit larger than her sisters. As she grew, she always seemed to be first to do everything. The first one to try solid food, the first to climb ( rather UNcerimoniously) out of the whelping box, the first to explore.
She liked the whole “show dog thing” and loved the attention…Still does. She always got extra happy and knew when it was show day . She showed really well and was known for her movement as well as her type; well muscled and well balanced. The last time she showed was 2005 ( at Louisville), where three days out of four, she took Best of Opposite Sex. I decided at that time that she should bow out gracefully. She has since been a retired stay-at home mom and my ever watchful companion.
She is not quite as bouncy when I get home, (after all the vet did refer to her as “geriatric”). She’s now 10 years old and gray in the muzzle, but still pretty energetic. She has passed on her great genes to her progeny and has settled into her role as doting and ever-sopatient
grandmother to Alonzo. She lives here with us, her daughter Janey ( Ch. Leatheneck Janelle’s Ode So Joyful), Alonzo ( Janey’s son), Fletcher ( a rescue of mixed heritage) and Eli the cat. She seems quite contented .
