Can. Ch Kilroy’s Northen Wrangler
CJ is one of those dogs that come around but once in a lifetime. Imported to Canada in 1998 from Kilroy Bullmastiffs in California, he was chosen for his bloodlines to be used as an outcross sire for our current bloodlines in our kennel. He arrived with an impeccible temperament, was very laid back and somewhat of a silly goofball. At 9 years old, he hasn’t changed a bit, albeit for developing a more gentlemanly persona, dignity and grace as to be expected for a man in his years. Having a lovely balanced body, dead level topline, beautiful angles, natural hard muscle tone and a stunning head, we thought we would play with him as a showdog as a Sr.puppy - with the usual hope of a Championship. Clearly he had something else in mind for us, as he became a multi-group placer before a year of age, and garnered his first All-breed Best In Show at 13 months of age! He would later become a multi BIS winner, a BISS winner and was ranked nationally as #2 bullmastiff in 1999, #5 bullmastiff in 2000 (hardly shown) and on to his maturity year as #1 Bullmastiff and #8 Working dog in Canada for 2001. Of course the only thing that can make a great show dog even better, is for him to become a great sire. With a bounty of health clearances - OFA Hips/Elbows/Thyroid/Heart , eyes, and PennHip - in very limited litters and at the time of this writing he has gone on to obtain his ROM with 7 Am Champion get, as well as 18 Canadian Champions and 1 New Zealand Champion. He has many get needing singles to complete their Am Championships. Of his babies - 2 of his sons have garnered impressive owner/breeder Best In Show wins, yet another an owner/breeder National Specialty BISS win, a daughter has won a New Zealand Reserve Best In Show, and yet another son has garnered a specialty BOSS win in California. He has several BPIS and multi-group placing get, another who was nationally ranked in Canada, and get with various specialty wins from the classes. As a Grandsire - he has not dissapointed either. His winning tradition has carried on to his grand-offspring, with multi champions, multi group placers, BPIS, BPISS, Sweeps BISS, and on. He has displayed an impeccible ability to stamp his distinctive type and wonderful disposition to his get, which has carried over to his grandget as well as adding a little trait that we refer to as the “wow” factor. We look forward to enjoying many more years with CJ and his daughters and granddaughter that we have retained for our breeding program.
