CH Huck’s Last Hurrah Of Bandog
M, Fawn, DOB 3/27/1976, Reg # WD408400, SB 10/1977
Owners: Wayne L & Jean A Boyd; Breeders: Louise & Julie Sanders
‘Freddie” was Bandog’s first Multi-Best in Show Bullmastiff and National Specialty winner. Freddie was a large (26 1/2 inches, 140 pounds) fawn dog with a gorgeous head, black eyes and heavy bone. Freddie was born in a first litter from Ch. Bandog’s Hard
Hearted Hannah “Huckleberry” (a beautiful big red bitch, that had a show career cut short, she may have been the first bitch to go Best of Breed at our supported entry at Harrisburg) and Ch. Beowulf of Bandog. Huckleberry died of bloat only hours after the puppies
were born by Caesarean section. Freddie and his littermates were raised by a Collie bitch. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that Freddie never behaved like a typical macho male Bullmastiff. Freddie was aquired by Wayne and Jean Boyd at about age two and his
career took off. His temperament was probably the finest quality he could pass on to his get. Although Freddie was a great showman and multi-Group winning dog, he never moved better than when he was on his way back to the Boyd’s motorhome. He was an extremely
sweet-tempered Bullmastiff and enjoyed the good life of being home and retired. He also passed on to his get: Excellent size, substance, bone, and dogs with the ability to be athletic and animated. Freddies head style was one that you wanted to imprint in your bloodline
and is still evident in Bandog/Banstock pedigrees. He had a very “Bullmastiff” head type, not exaggerated or bully, but square and clean and not excessively wrinkled, heavy muzzle, excellent ear set and beautiful black eyes. Freddie lived to about nine years.
