“Gem” was the first Bullmastiff Utility dog in the United States. She lived a long life being born December 4, 1957 and died August 27, 1970 - almost 13 years old. During her conformation career she was placed Best of Breed 12 times. In the obedience ring, Gem’s performance was consistently good. She completed her CD with scores of 186 1/2, 177 and 185. Her CDX was completed in five trails with scores of 190, 194 1/2 and 196 /12. The elusive UD degree was completed in five trails with scores of 184, 193 1/2 and 192 1/2. All this by the time she was 3 1/2 years old. She was the dam of seven champions, sired by three different studs. One litter produced four champions. She was entirely owner handled in obedience and conformation. This information was taken from several write ups in The American Bullmastiff.
