     While walking through life to the beat of her own private drummer, Jewel was the epitomy of a good mother. She is a bit self contained in her relationships with humans. She needed to see me but not touch me. When ever I traveled and would leave her, she would quit eating after 48 hours., She would not eat again till I came back. Her most treasured reward in life was a coathanger with a hard cardboard roll to chew. At the age of 7 she decided that sleeping in our bed wasn’t such a bad idea after all and chose a spot at the foot of the bed. Her protectiveness regarding her babies was legendary. As her mother - no crate could contain her. We had a mouse in the downstairs area when she had winter babies. After we replaced several walls from her “getting” that mouse, she was finally content. Jewel had a high ear set and that was the fault she had that bugged me the most. She is square, typy and stout. We outcrossed her on her first litter to A/C CH. DOX Burnham Up. Her second litter was a line breeding to Marley, Ch. Oldybrck Bedeviled by Ivystone. Jewel was 23 inches tall and 100 pounds. She died in 2008 of cancer.
