A chance encounter at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show ended with a plan to breed Anita’s red male CH Oakridge Good Grief, CDX, RE (Schroeder) to Helene’s brindle girl CH Banstock Back to the Future (Maggie). Two generations had gone by without a brindle in the Oakridge home since the passing of “Trinity”, CH Oakridge Dox Frozen Assets CD, RE GROM and this breeding gave hope to a remedy. The breeding was a success and allowed Oakridge to select the pick, a brindle girl, Mesa, who became CH Banstock @ Oakridge Black Mesa, CDX, RE. But, running around the Connecticut backyard was a littermate, a brindle male pup with “the best side gait”, ever. Oakridge came for one and left with two.
“Rio” a/k/a CH Banstock @ Oakridge Rio Grande CDX, RE is the dog that people imagine when they think about the human animal bond. He is eager to learn and earned his CD, CDX, BN, RN, RA, & RE titles by age 4 and is certified for tracking at the time of this biography. He was a CH before 2 years of age.Rio enjoys walks on cool days but will lie for hours on Ira’s lap watching Tom Brady (GOAT). He loves to snuggle and fortunately has a dark brindle coat that is huggable without the prickles. He delights in gently carrying stuffies wherever he goes and allows the bitches to be the frontline guards of the homestead. He is never agitated or angry. His fertility is unmatched and each of his offspring carries his genes for trainability, lovability and a happy tail. Rio resides with two of his offspring, GCH Oakridge Crossing Jordyn with Blackslate BN, CD, RE and CH Oakridge ‘N Blackslate the Bryce Is Right! BN, CD, RE.
