From the first time I laid eyes on Sassy, at two days old, I was in love with her.  I frequently begged for Sassy and upon the breakup of Bandog Bullmastiffs and the Stephens marriage, Sassy, then 21 months old, came to live with me at Nitestalker Bullmastiffs. A rich red with dark black mask, Sassy had a nearly level bite and a strong topline. Sassy was bottom of the standard but was structurally rock solid. When shown under Judge J. D.Jones, he described Sassy as having “substance, type and beauty”  (And that I should learn to present her properly!) Sassy did not particularly  like the show ring, but she adored me, and would do anything I asked of her, except take a decent show photo! I finished her with four majors. If I had to fault Sassy, it would have been on her rear. She was well angulated, but lacked a strong secondary thigh development, and this made her rear look “weak”. Sassy was linebred to two Blackslate sires which produced pups with tremendous bone, excellent bites, and great movement. Sassy was the proverbial earth mother, totally dedicated to her babies and would not wean them until 7 - 8 weeks of age. She once killed a rabbit and delivered it to the whelping box to feed her just weaned pups! Sassy died much too young to lymphosarcoma, just short of seven years of age. At home, she was my constant shadow. She will always be missed.
