“Waffles” was a large, well built, 120 pound fawn bitch. She hated to show, although her sire had won two National Specialties. Waffles did go Best of Opposite Sex in National Sweepstakes. If she wasn’t first in the judge’s eyes, she was last. She would look at the judge and complain, “I’m so sick, and this lady won’t take me to the hospital”. The only fault I could find with her was her topline. She had a gorgeous large head, excellent size and muscular build. At age eight she could spring from the middle of the floor onto her love seat. When my father was dying of cancer, a young woman watched my dogs. Waffles was left in the sun too long one hot day and had heat stroke followed by a series of strokes which led to her death.
